I'd start by taking out the headunit and checking the connections on the rear. Also check the fuses. If everything looks good, replug all of the connections and see if maybe something was slightly loose. If that doesn't solve it, your headunit may be internally damaged for some reason.

Actually, you're right. The TPMS reset button is more closer to the right knee than the OBD connector. But there is only one button which is the one you are seeing.

TPMS was an option on some 10th gen Corolla CE's. The Corolla CE with the Convenience and/or Enhanced package comes with TPMS (also adds power locks, keyless remote,etc.) Do you happen to have the Corolla CE with no upgrade packages?

I haven't experienced this but it may be a software glitch. When this happens, have you felt the headunit and does it feel hot which could signify it's overheated?

The transmissions between the 1.8 and 2.4 are different. The 1.8 has the C59 5 speed manual while the 2.4 has the E351 5 speed manual and the E351 does take more fluid at 2.6 quarts.
