Worst Case Scenarios for out 11th Gen Corollas

Hey guys, I buy cars and drive them till the end so that got me thinking and so far there are two things that come to mind on 11th gens that can set you back a few hundred/thousands dollars and it has to do with the new technology Toyota introduced. I might be wrong and it may be a non issue...

    2017 LE Interior Rattles?

I'm assuming your car was still under warranty. I'm passed 36k basic warranty and haven't purchased extended so I guess I'll have to live with it. Have been living it with for a while, it probably started at around 10K and I'm at 43K now and the good news is it hasn't gotten any worse. In...

Build Log: Interior Blackout, Black Suede Headliner & Trim, Dynamat Roof.

Awesome, man that interior beats most german/japanese luxury cars. Throw some real wood in there or carbon fiber and you're good ;)

    Front speakers not working

Guys, I've found a related post dealing with same behavior some of you are experiencing. Issue seems to be with static caused by speaker wiring in the trunk. I'm not saying this is the answer to everyone's problem but from the sounds of it, Toyota did a crappy job wiring the speakers on this...

    Spirited driving with the CVT?!

Nice cars by the way, I'm sure that corolla is a whole lot of fun now, love the MR2 as well. Those Mr2s are light as hell and handle like a dream, had an opportunity to be driven in one long time ago. This is probably one of those cars that will appreciate in value as time goes by if it...

2014 S Radio Head Failure - Anybody Seen This?

Nice Chris, hood to know there are alternatives that don’t compromise functionality. Wonder if there’s a way to check if mines Fujitsu or Panasonic. Any idea how to tell where to check without disassembling anything?

2014 S Radio Head Failure - Anybody Seen This?

You know what's funny, this morning when I started the car and my phone hooked up via bluetooth I received another update. Basically it said you have a mandatory update download ok/cancel. I hit Ok and after few seconds next prompt was to install now or later and gave a warning that you won't...

    Spirited driving with the CVT?!

Statistically you’re more prone to get into trouble unless you row through the gears without releasing the clutch. We can all agree that manual is quicker at least feels. It’s also easier to drop a gear and squeeze here and there. Say what you want but you’re wrong.

    Spirited driving with the CVT?!

I partially agree but you can’t deny that with a manual, on average you’re putting yourself in more risky behavior behind the wheel due to the fun factor. I’m not saying I would floor it every chance I get but it’s definitely more tempting under right circumstances.

2014 S Radio Head Failure - Anybody Seen This?

I thought it was only failing on specific firmware update and not all of them. I saw some article somewhere that indicated which update levels are affected. If yours haven’t failed yet, try to force an update over the air. I’ve gotten three so far on my 2015 with Navi so hopefully it won’t...

Questions about lowering my 2014 Toyota Corolla S

There is something there, you're right. I recently got clipped by a large SUV while passing him and MoFo sped up and clipped my rear bumper while I was passing him and changing lanes (no damage just a scratch not really visible) but my 15 corolla LE premium with drum brakes in the rear fish...

    Spirited driving with the CVT?!

I would love to own one with 6speed. I got a good deal on premium package with push to start but if I was to go back, I would probably go with the barebones L with manual. Lightest of them all = fastest and most nimble. I would concentrate on suspension and maybe a supercharger one day. With...

    Good HubCentric Wheel spacers

I've also been told to stay away from them but noticed so many people using them and not too many issues being reported so I figured it would be a cheap way to make the car more stable by widening the stance a bit. As far as hub centric, I guess that's the type you're supposed to get if you're...

    Good HubCentric Wheel spacers

Does anyone know where to buy best quality HubCentric bolt on I guess, ones that come with it's own set of bolts and aren't cheap. If anyone's using the Amazon aluminum ones, have you had any issues with them? Any vibration, do you need to tighten them up from time to time etc... any safety...

What type of gas are y'all putting in the tank?

You don't need to put anything higher than 87 octane in your corolla because of it's compression ratio and it being a naturally aspirated engine. Some performance N/A sports or luxury cars due to high compression engines require mid to high octane fuel to prevent knock (self ignition under...

Driving in Manual Mode a Bad Idea??

I bet if you consider longevity of CVT it can't be that good for it. Gas mileage wise as well. I would only throw it in manual mode if necessary-otherwise keep it in auto/eco. As a side note, since it wormed up to 30F, I noticed a huge power increase commpared to two weeks of 0 degrees F...

    battery replace

I've replaced plenty batteries in my lifetime and you'll usually start seeing signs. If you don't drive it for a day or two and I'm not even talking about cold/hot just regular weather - it should start without any issues. If starter turns slower then battery may be going. If you drive daily...

Low RPMs causing slight vibration while in gear at full stop

Also, I haven't really done any maintenance on it other than oil changes but I guess it wouldn't hurt to clean the throttle body, just thought of that. :)

Low RPMs causing slight vibration while in gear at full stop

Hi guys, not sure if it's Corolla specific since my mom's 2003 did the same thing after it had a few miles on it, but I'm currently at 42k and whenever I'm driving and come to a complete stop with foot on brake and in gear (D) it's a cvt, the rpms drop a bit where it's vibrating the car...

Engine swap options for the E-170 2ZR-FE?

Probably not possible. If you've ever taken a look under the hood of a Camry with a v6 it's already tight as hell in there, then you have to think about transmission, etc... I don't see how that V6 could fit under the short hood of our Corollas. Let's not kid ourselves, there isn't much space...
