Brothabear, when you replaced CVT fluid, did they try to talk you out of it? (Assuming you did it at the dealership). Did you notice any improvement? How much was it and how long did it take?

ZeCorolla might be right. I don't hear any unusual whining noise other than high revs and not accelerating. Did you attempt to to stop, turn off ignition, start and put in D again? Disconnect one of battery terminals maybe to reset the computer?

At what RPM do you notice the noise? Are you paddle shifting the nonexistent gears or auto when you floor it?

I agree about Focus ST, even RS seems to have it's share of problems. Head gasket failures due to accidentally installing mustang 2.3 gasket at factory. Although Mustang turbo uses pretty much same engine, just detuned, apparently needed something more durable due to up in HP or engine warp...

Sounds like an easy fix, similar thing happened to my aunt's matrix. Can't give you any details but I know it was cheap. The only difference is she went to her local mechanic not dealer.

Hi Angie, mine's 2015 with 50k and I haven't had that happen to me. When you took it to the dealer, have they troubleshot at all? Did they take cvt mapping reading or recommend CVT fluid drain/refill?

Got ya, thanks for the info. If you were to estimate, did you try to keep her in Eco mode at all or were you kind of hard on her from dead stop? How was your driving habit on daily basis. Some go for mpg and never get her out of eco mode, some go for acceleration and hardly ever see that...
