Your mechanic friend is incorrect. There is only one cylinder head on both engines available in the Corolla.
If it was a milling error, then it was as I suspected (you got the one in 100,000 that slipped past QA).
Sounds like they did a compression test and it failed in #4 because of the...
Leave it in D, that keeps the oil pressure up while the car is moving at speed. Putting it in N idles the engine and thus lowers the transmission oil pressure. It probably won't hurt it, but there is no benefit to it.
You don't need to push the brake to go from D to N or N to D.
If you are...
High revving does use more fuel (I don't call it wasting since I'm having fun with it) and keeping the rpms high will wear out the engine quicker than keeping the rpms low (modern engines are designed much, much better than engines from the 70s and 80s and won't wear as much at any rpm), but you...
KYB has several levels on their shocks. The OEM replacements, the GR-2 (which I had on my '82 Mustang GT and loved them), and the AGX (which are adjustable).
I wish Toyota just put the firmware on their website instead of making us jack it and put it in a file sharing host.
HEY!!! TOYOTA!!! ALL ELECTRONIC COMPANIES IN THIS DECADE HAVE FIRMWARE TO DOWNLOAD ON THEIR WEBSITE!!! GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!! ALL THE COOL KIDS ARE DOING IT!!!
Nice find with the picture.
It's a 2014 with 13,500 miles. She's not even halfway through her powertrain warranty.
As far as the code might not actually being the cylinder head itself, always true, but I'm hoping that her dealership has competent mechanics (keep in mind they probably told her...
It's under warranty, so it isn't like you have to be worried about them ripping you off or anything. Sometimes (but very, very rarely) cylinder heads can be cast with weak points and these weak points fail (usually by cracking), causing a loss of compression in the cylinder.
Chances are you...
There is only one cylinder head. The one cylinder head holds all four combustion chambers, both cams, and intake / exhaust valves for all four cylinders. You only have more than one cylinder head in a Boxer or V-configuration engine. Inline engines just have one.
We should be happy Eibach gave us lowering springs, LOL.
They have coilovers for Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, Charger, Challenger ... basically all of the Right Wheel ... I mean ... Rear Wheel Drive performance cars.
There really is no benefit to manual mode other than the fun factor. Unless you want to get silly, you can leave it in D. Judging from your shift points in your '99 Civic ... you probably never let the engine see past 3000 rpm.
Depends on what I am doing. If I'm being fuel conscious, I try...
Driving with just your fogs on is not going to safely light the road enough at night. Just want to stress this.
CAUTION: NOBODY HAS TRIED THIS ON A 2014 AND ABOVE. DOING THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DAMAGE THE ECU. YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Now that that is said and done ... from what I see...
Thanks for the links XEON! Ended up doing mine after I originally saw the post. One thing I noticed is that when I hit Mode on the steering wheel, I don't cycle through Pandora, iHeart Radio or Slacker Radio unless that particular app is open. Definitely nice when going from Bluetooth...
They don't rust in the lots. Auto dealers will clean the cars on the lot to ensure they don't rust or have paint issues.
I suppose they could have put in a dummy sensor, but then it might open them up to lawsuits for misrepresentation.
That sounds like a marketing trick. 30,000 K is way hot and most of the light isn't visible at that temperature. They probably perform far worse than bulbs in the 3800 - 6000 range.
Higher temperature isn't best. Temperature in the white is best. I have seen a few people drive around with 10k...
Yup, that missing knob (sensor, rather) is for the auto-headlights. Only Canadian-bound Corollas have them now.
Yeah, the sticker inside the driver side door jamb has a build date. Why are you concerned if it sat for a little bit? Most cars do.
They might be telling you that only your DRL is on. I've seen a few people drive at night in SoCal with only their DRL on (and shutting my lights on and off at them doesn't get them to pick up on it because they see their headlights).
Headlights on ... dashboard lighting off ... hmmmm ...
