Evaporative emission small leak code 0442...need a solution

My darling 2004 LE has begun throwing code 0442 every day now for the past couple weeks and lites the mil lite aka check engine lite. It was going to the dealer for a freebie air bag ECU recall so I figured I would have them take a look see. Mileage = 145k. They didn't find anything obvious...

    Dashboard Rattling Fix

Great video! and Thanks Ze! I like how Eric has to make several stabs at it (like me) before he attains 100% success. It is definitely a process of elimination. I've found the headache is having to make repeated test drives. That typically takes more time than workbench modification time...

    Dashboard Rattling Fix

HanSolo....u just had to bring up that subject huh.......Lol.....ratlles in my 2015 S+ is my #1 COMPLAINT. Let's see, back side of glove box squeak solved with lithium grease. Driver door panel backside- duct tape. Front right dash where it meets windshield, stuffed a dishrag in it, been...

    cvt transmission fluid check

Thanks Thomas. I have always serviced a reg auto trans at designated intervals and that has been my experience....between 100-200k. Looking to get 200k+ on my 2004 Corolla, but skeptical if that is doable on my 2015 S+ cvt. Perhaps I'll do a dealer fluid change at 48k just prior to warranty...

EBC Stage 5 Kit Front and Rear Brakes

We like ebc pads and use redstuff. How does the more aggressive yellowstuff compare to redstuff if you have any personal experience with redstuff?

    Floor mats?

Ditto on cheap oem mats. I have ggbailey.com orientals in my mr2, very high quality and nice fit. Looking to order Lloyd superblack Luxemat for my 2015 S+. I like their one piece rear mat. Had them in a crewcab truck. I had some fading over the years but Lloyd CSR tells me the colorfast defect...

    Fog lights pre wired?

The stalk has a thumb wheel on/off fog switch. You have to order it from your fave toyo parts source. My 2004 LE Corolla was pre wired plug and play for the upgraded stalk. Can't say for the 2014-2016 but assume Toyo wouldn't stray from this easy upgrade...

    Fog lights pre wired?

I added factory fog lites to my wife's 2004 Corolla LE. Easy. The female plugs were hanging there behind the plastic covers. First problem, these plugs had years of road grime and oxidation. I used contact cleaner and dental tools to scrape and get some shiny metal. I pried the halogen fog...

2016 Toyota S CVT Oil change

I've been doing my own driveway oil changes for 43 years. My s hasn't been to the stealer ship yet. I save my oil filters along with receipts in case I have an engine warranty issue down the line. I've already fought with a tire shop about doing my own rotations and they said that wasn't good...

    Car Horn

My experience with my 2015 s is that the wiring gauge is very optimized for current draw. I always recommend using a relay for adding a single or dual horns. A little more work but protects your wiring harness in the long run.

Upgrading to led fogs and license plate bulbs

Amazon. jdmastar vendor. I did led 6th gen fogs and high beams. Fogs were super impressive. High was better but not as much wow factor. I use diode dynamic marker lights, vert bright and reliable.

    2014 Corolla Automatic Climate Control

Another observation...the vent temp is always changing. It doesn't stay constant like a knob setting. If I get stuck in traffic, sometimes the outside temp sensor will surge or goes up several degrees. I will get a corresponding decrease in vent temp of a degree or 2. Very annoying. System has...

    2014 Corolla Automatic Climate Control

I have a 2015 s. I don't use auto mode because I like a lot of air flow on me and auto mode dials back fan to 1 or 2 bars once it reaches set point. I despise this ac setup compared to my 2004 that has knobs. What I have determined in 25k miles is that the system relies on the outside air temp...

2004 got new tires, now hearing front end noises over bumps...

Need help finding root cause of front end noises mostly when traveling straight line over washboard pavement 30-50mph. 2004 Corolla 145k miles. Problem more evident after just replacing 4 tires with all season touring 90k contis due to harder sidewall and tread compound. Previous kumhos rode...

    LED fog lights/reverse/trunk light

Sorry to hear about your misfortune with the Jdmastar leds. I've run them in my 2004 Corolla in the back... brake tail turns reverse for over a year with no issues. All the bulbs got a nightly workout as I drive pizza. My 2015 s is using their extremely bright px Amber led in the front and...

A/C Takes a Bit to Get Cold

Yea, my beater v8 truck has an awesome heater but rarely gets exercised here in central FL. But interestingly it has only an adequate cooling system and by no means stellar. Definitely brand related...bought it new and its performance has stayed constant over the years...always underwhelming...

A/C Takes a Bit to Get Cold

Klinetime574, you're exactly right. The compressor has to be turning to cool the car. I wasn't trying to be sarcastic...just trying to put a simulation into words what the precise problem is. If you were to sit in your car and do as I suggest, you will feel exactly what the complaint clarkemode...

Crank, no start - toyota corolla 2005

Umm, not to insult you but is your gas gauge working and or low fuel indicator? I had a motorcycle once that I used to start up in the garage every couple weeks to keep the fuel injectors from clogging up. One day it was running ok then it started sputtering and then quit. I thought something...
