Drive on the highway in D and make sure you are at 50-60MPH. Then, shift into 3 and you will notice that you have downshifted because the RPM's will go up. I use this whenever I overtake someone.

As Donabed said, the engine is limited to 115 MPH but I've seen videos of Corolla's with the same engines go up to 150 MPH in other countries(Asian Corolla's).

Welcome! I heard MonkeyWrench racing is making engine parts for the 2ZR-FE(engine in the 10th and 11th gen Corolla's). For suspension, get lowering springs and better tires and you will love your Corolla!:D
