Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

Yes I see you have a few more horsepower. How does the "ECO" manage that? To everybody else: sorry about the massive thread hijack.

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

If the loss is that little, I suppose. I wonder what the loss is going from 45 to 70. I just know that in merging situations, I want the car doing it's best for, not actually working against itself and me. Wow that Ford DCT thing looks like a real mess.

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

First off, I'm not arguing with you below, more with Toyota and everybody else who has succumbed to this foolishness, So the assholes whose job it is to actually understand this stuff are just a bunch of stupid shitheads, too? Right, I'm not talking about gradual, I'm talking about as fast as...

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

Off-topic. I was just thinking - this simulation of shift points to give the impression of more power. Now, I know very little about cars, but it seems to me that it's actually *less* efficient at producing acceleration. Instead of staying at the lower motor-to-wheel ratio during the whole...

Which year is your car, Jolly?

That sounds like a good thing to me. That would also explain why I never understood the shift points everybody was talking about, I've got a 2018.

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

[emphasis added] If both of these quotes are true, it looks like we have a winning diagnosis. I bought this thing partially because I thought there were no significant changes in design between 2014 and 2018, (and the 2014 through 2017s had great reliability stats per Consumers Reports). :(...

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

So there has never been a follow-on campaign to your L28? The original included enough of what JSD does that it prevented any update-induced failure? And if so, why would J0D *not* have everything than L28 did? That makes no sense.

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

OK, I found another angle of sunlight to car that makes this visible. Sun high i the sky, but west, mid to late afternoon, with the car pointing west. Again, I can only see a little bit of this thing at a time - I have to move my head sideways to to trace it when it is visible at all. It...

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

Yep, local place, I've had great dealings with them. When my warranties expire, I hope to continue with them - if the computerization/specialzation of the new cars is not too much to exclude that. Thanks for the advice and help. I hope your back is improving. I still have to be careful how I...

Spontaneous Window Crack, 17 Corolla, no prior chips or nicks. Anyone else?

OK, here it is: DSC01161..5.JPG The mechanic said it took an hour what with disassembling and reassembling the cowl/windshield washers etc.. I'll probably never notice the difference, I drive pretty conservatively, usually. Sitting gets to my back/legs, too. So does standing, especially...

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

The one question left in my mind is: why did they suspend J0D in the US but not in Canada? I'm convinced that my 2018 is still good. I am actually through obsessing about that part of it. I'm just not understanding why the two different countries had such different sequence of events...

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

At another forum, somebody posted the dealer letter for JSD. This wasn't in the long-running thread on J0D, they made a new one for JSD. From the FAQ: Q: Are Model Year 2018 vehicles equipped with the same CVT involved in Special Service Campaign JSD? A: Model Year 2018 Corolla and Corolla...

Then I don't understand why the 2018s don't need this, too. The timing seems wrong for the 2018 model year to include this second update.

Newer than what they were doing last year - or just new to your vehicle?

Most of us Probably have a "Recall" (CVT)

I almost bought a 2017 with 36K on it from a rental agency. A car inspector and my best friend talked me out of it.

The pain down the back and the back of the leg is classic sciatica symptom. My doctor initially put me on meloxicam, which is another NSAID like naproxen or Advil. That shit was a joke. I went back to Advil. Nothing really touched the pain until I went back to the doctor and told him the...

So that's great news @jolly - one less thing for me to worry about.

Link? Or pdf save? I'd like to see if the oriduction dates are listed. My VIN (2018 LE) still shows clean. Which, if the first "update" was wrong, doesn't make a lot of sense. Unless it's just a different campaign, in the US, for the same stuff.
