You should be able to find a use/replacement transmission for dirt cheap. The Toyota motor 1zz/2zz was basically their "prostitute" motor and was practically whore out. The irony.. this car is dirt cheap now, so if the junkyard was $1000.00 for a used transmission.. heck, you better off sell...

I agree! Changing out the OEM stereo deck was one of my mods for my Corolla. ;)

mrjfarrell, As long as you take care of your Corolla and do the general maintenance. It will last forever!

It's a lot cheaper if you just pick-up a 1st gen Toyota Matrix XRS, 05 Corolla XRS, or the last gen GTS Celica. It's not easy from what I gather.. I don't see enough peeps doing the swap.

??? my local dealership.. charges $149.99 with or without the warranty just to bring in the car. That is the standard fee, JUST to diagnosis and leave your car in the park for 8 hrs. Your seem to be just an oil change and fluid level check

??? seriously ??? If it's in running condition, emission passable, decent interior... and has NOT been gutted and drifted... they WILL go for $10k ALL DAY on craigslist
