What is the fastest way to accelerate?

There have been several comparisons on You Tube. The best comparison was 2 identical iM's where both drivers raced both cars. The 6MT was much quicker. The CVT is a slug off of the line and by that time it was all over. They were doing this in Colorado at a high elevation that will kill the...

    2010 Toyota Corolla S - manual trans - original owner 85k

Mine is Classic Silver Metallic. Too bad you are so far away and my daughter isn't quite at the point of being able to afford it. She just finished nursing school and will be in the market for a newer car later this year after getting a job and earning some dough. Hopefully she can find...

What is the fastest way to accelerate?

I don't think that there is any problem with the CVT except that people aren't used to how they work and it's a new experience for them. The 6MT is quicker unless the driver just doesn't know how to drive a MT very well.

    2010 Toyota Corolla S - manual trans - original owner 85k

Where do you live? What's the color of the car? My daughter has always loved my 2009 Corolla S with a 5-speed manual. Did you really change the oil that often? Just curious as most people do it every 5k miles.

What is the fastest way to accelerate?

The OP asked what was the quickest way to accelerate. I simply pointed out if that is what they are concerned with the best way would be to own a 6MT. I see more people wishing they had bought the 6MT and complaining about the CVT than anything else. I don't mind people driving the CVT, but to...

    synthetic engine oil

I've always used Mobil 1 with great results but I did buy a 5L jug of LiquiMoly after hearing so many great things about it on some other oil discussions. People tell me that once I try it I'll never use something else but we shall see. It was a little more that Mobil 1 but if I like it a lot I...

    synthetic engine oil

In 2010 the Corolla started having a synthetic factory fill of 0w-20 but early models from that year had a 5w-20 synthetic blend. From 2011 on they have had 0w-20 synthetic from the factory.

    Mod suggestions for 2018 XSE

Why is it painful for you? It doesn't affect you in any way. He said that he already paid off his car. And mad money is different to everyone. I've met many younger buyers that make very good money and many mods cost little to nothing. If you install some mods sooner then you can enjoy them...

    Mod suggestions for 2018 XSE

I always tell people to get what they want even if it takes a few days for a dealer to locate one. Either that or find one elsewhere, f;y there and drive it back!

Why So Few 2018 Corolla's With The XSE Trim Package ??

It would be easier to have the cloth seats upgraded to leather and add a NAV HU to a SE 6MT then to swap out a CVT for a 6MT in an XSE. SO for that reason alone I would get the SE 6MT. In fact I hate leather seats so I would keep the cloth seats and just upgrade the HU.

Why So Few 2018 Corolla's With The XSE Trim Package ??

I've driven plenty of cars with paddle shifters but they aren't nearing as fun as a real clutch and shifter in your right hand!

I love how people assume that everyone has a car loan. I paid cash for my 2017 Corolla iM too! Enjoy your mods. I had a throttle controller on my 2009 Corolla S before I turbocharged it and it was amazing. I loved having it and being able to adjust the throttle response to my liking. Congrats on...

    Lowering springs

That's why I said to have a friend help you that knows how to do it. Don't you have some friends that are into cars and know how to turn a wrench? Maybe some other members on here or ToyotaNation live in your area and would help you. The best way to learn is to have friends show you. It's only...

    Lowering springs

Best way to do it is to do it yourself. You will pay nothing and use the savings to spend a few $$$ on the tools you need to do it yourself. It's not very hard either. Plus you know that it's done right. Get someone that has done it before to help you and watch You Tube videos on how to do it.

    Engine Bay Dress Up

All it takes is one slip of the hand and the part drops and damages the car. Just not worth the risk. I've seen it happen before and it can happen in a fraction of a second. Just saying.

Why So Few 2018 Corolla's With The XSE Trim Package ??

Not as much as rowing your own gears with a 6-speed manual! Paddles are just a gimmick on a CVT.
