The CVT has a metal, chain-like belt. There are no gears, otherwise it would be a regular automatic transmission. There are some good videos on YouTube as to how a CVT works; it's pretty simple.

Have you compared it to other new Corollas? Ask them to show you the bumps in other seats. If they can't it's defective. Do y'all have a lemon law up there?

Yeah, I believe that's the same as the original warranty, so that makes sense. I noticed when I was researching the car before buying, that the warranty was only 50k for the CVT vs 100k for the automatic. I decided it was worth the risk. Hopefully it works out for me.

Keep in mind "certified pre-owned" is just marketing and means absolutely nothing other than "used".
