Pike's Peak with a 2014 Corolla S?

#1
This summer I'll be heading to Colorado. While there, we're going up Pike's Peak. Will my 2014 Corolla S handle the road okay? I hear you have to keep it in low all the time, so would M1 work? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

I haven't experience it with the cvt but I think should be fine. There's a part of Mexico where my family is from. There are roads that almost runs just like pikes peek but in poor conditions. It does have a very high incline and seen them go up fine. Going down I would recommend occasionally down shift to keep the brakes cool.

You should be okay, but I am curious about the constant uphill grade and how that will affect transmission fluid temperatures. Just so you know, your car is going to get really sluggish and lethargic by the time you hit the 12k elevation mark. By the time you reach the summit, idle your car for a bit to cool the transmission down. When coming down, make sure it is in a low enough gear ratio to avoid riding the brakes. There is a brake check station at about the halfway point coming downhill and they will make you park if your brakes are over 300 degrees.
