HIGHEST MILEAGE 11TH GEN.

Just bought a 2014 S Premium with the CVTi and 81,000 Miles on it. I test drove one when they were new and as far as I can tell mine drives like a new one. The ONLY thing I notice sometimes is slight suspension groaning going over some driveways or doing u-turns. Previous owner averaged 30k miles per year and the cars been good to me so far. Fingers crossed.

57600 on 2015 Corolla S. Only issues I've had is door lock assemblies on 3 doors. Oh, and right now my phone contacts won't link up to my car. It just says unknown number and shows the phone number not the name.

48k on my 2014 LE CVT (no manual tranny offered on the LE), slammed my car at 18k miles and the only "major" repair I've had to do was replace the driver side CV axle, other than that the car has given me no problems.

Really? They didn't offer manual trans on 14 LE? I didn't know that.
Mine was a lot car and at the time I wanted auto anyways. Now I wish it was manual!

I can tell there are very few real car guys here. Where has all the love of driving gone with everyone driving a lame CVT. There is so much more enjoyment when driving a manual trans. People seem to have a lot of excuses but for people that really love cars and driving will buy a MT. Life is too short to be driving a boring CVT. I taught all 3 of my daughters to drive a MT and even they laugh at people that are too lame to drive a MT. Where's the passion and love for driving gone? Very sad indeed.

Mine was a lot car. Had everything else I was interested in, even the color. It's only now that I wish it was a manual.
Let's just hope the CVT can stand up to my driving, cause I drive it like I stole it!

I've learned where all the shift points are and where I can manually shift at, so it's like driving a manual.

When I bought this car, it was only meant to be a second vehicle. I never thought I would be modding a Corolla, especially to the level that it's at. Lol

I learned to drive on manual transmissions. Self taught at that, so I get your message.

I also spend 3-5 hours a day in stop and go traffic. Thankfully that's in a company vehicle! Couldn't imagine driving a manual in that.
With that said, Corolla's are commuter vehicles and the stealerships have that in mind when they order them. It's a little harder to find vehicles with manual transmissions around here.

I still have a love for driving though.
My next ride, probably a Wrangler, will definitely have a manual trans!
I grew up driving Camaro's, Firebirds, a Mustang and a Chevelle even my first car (Escort) was a stick!
I definitely miss driving them!!

CVT's don't have different gears, the shift points you refer to are more to make people think it shifts like an automatic does. If it doesn't have a 3rd pedal it's not a manual transmission!

I always get a kick out of people when they mention driving in rush hour traffic and using a manual. Your left leg isn't doing anything anyway so why is it such a big deal driving in rush hour with a MT? I've driven in traffic with manual cars and work trucks for many years. It's no big deal to push the clutch in to shift. Most of the time I can keep going in 2nd gear without stopping even in the worst traffic. If I don't see a MT car I want I won't settle for a CVT or AT. I'll wait until the dealer finds what I want or I do. Heck, I would order one if nothing else. Dealerships have made it seem like people only want CVT/AT cars by only stocking them. Point is, they sell every MT car they do order as many people will settle for a slower CVT that costs more and is less fun to drive. Not me, I'll never settle! haha

I don't think of a Wrangler as a fun car unless you are going off road. I love cars that handle great. I'm not sure I would buy any Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Fiat product as they have been rated terrible by owners.

Keep having fun modding your Corolla though I do wish people would get back to the basics and enjoy the fun of rowing their own gears more.

I learned to drive with a 3 speed on the column in my dad's 68 GMC. I have had a couple MT's since and will never go back. I just don't enjoy shifting gears. People act like its "cooler" if they shift gears. It just shows their ignorance.

It's being one with the machine and having more control over the car. You saying that just shows that you aren't a true car guy. People that love the essence of driving and controlling a car will understand the love of rowing your own gears. Anyone can put a car in drive, steer and brake while enjoying and controlling a car to get the most out of it with a MT takes someone to another level. Just driving along mindlessly doesn't take much effort as can be seen by most drivers on the road today. Also note that driving an old truck with a 3-speed on the column is much different than driving a fun car that can handle great. There is a much different experience to ripping through he gears in the mountains then when driving a CVT/AT. I've done both a lot and there is no comparison. This experience also extends to daily driving and making even the daily commute to work a lot more fun.

Maybe I should have put shift in quotations. However, if Toyota uses a stepper motor, then "shift" would be an accurate description.
I guess what I was referring to was the points when the engine RPM's drop thus giving drivers the "feeling" of a "shift". Since both the engine and cvt arr computer controlled, you are correct. It does not "shift".
But there is some user control as to its performance.

Wrangler is the ONLY Jeep or Chrysler product that I would EVER buy.
And yes, I like to off-road too!
Corolla doesn't do off-road very well, lol!

I've always done my off-road fun in a Tacoma or Landcruiser, both are amazing off-road beasts.

Man, if I could afford the stick shift package, I totally would've gone with it. I taught myself manual in VR and am keeping up with it specifically in the event that my next vehicle is a stick.

Tickets are also expensive, more cars on road and traffic with mt is pain, cvt - no urge to race and do stupid shayt and saving your loved ones lives, relax while driving. Whenever I owned a mt car I would agitate others and get in trouble one way or another. I couldn’t resist to drive aggressively so don’t tell me there aren’t any real car guys here. Some grew up and came to their senses considering ones nature.

I've never had that issue when driving a MT car. When I'm in traffic it's no different for me. But when the roads turn fun and traffic thins enjoying the control and response of a MT is a lot more fun. The MT is also quicker by more than a second 0-60 mph.

I'm not arguing that i'ts not fun, it's night and day. It's TOO fun in fact which is why it gets me in trouble and that's all I'm trying to say. You don't need a high horse power MT car, our corolla with a 6speed would be a riot which is why I didn't get it. I plan to get a manual transmission car one day but for now when kids are small and too many people depend on me I can not fuk up so this was a decision I had to make. You may have better self control on the road but I don't and I'm glad I realized it before it's too late. This car is slowly teaching me how to become a defensive relaxed driver. One other thing that I just realized now is that wife and I can take either car and if decide to have a few drinks she can drive it home which would not be possible with a MT. I could teach her but would probably go nuts with gear grinding and stalling, who knows maybe she's a natural :)

Just shy of 64k; no repairs but a few projects planned:
  • Replace rear drum brakes with rear disk
  • Replace 2015 sideways oil-filter mount with 2016+ upside-down mount
  • TRD or Borla cat-back exhaust & drop-in air filter (If I can't find a real cold-air intake)
  • TRD or Eibach lowering springs
  • I may replace the non-entune touchscreen with a proper multi-function head unit, with navigation
I just got new tires so it'll be a few years before I get my HRE FF01 19" wheels. I will also be getting my windows tinted, once funds allow. I plan on keeping this car for a while so a few performance upgrades will be necessary, like some MWR 2ZR-FE camshafts in a ported head. I think it would be overkill to turbo this car, but a good N/A tune would set her apart from the rest and maintain reliability, at about half the cost. Win.

I feel like there's a maintenance interval coming up soon but I'll have to research; think I'll be due for new transmission fluid and an alignment.

99,000 miles and zero issues on my 2015 LE Eco with a CVT. Aside from tires, everything is original. Will be heading in for the 100k mile service by mid-April.

Had loud clicking when backing up from after drive and into drive after backing up, replaced cvt and all was great as usual.
So far for 70K miles on it, lowered with eibach and drivers awesome with stiffened chassis.
Just one issue, get vibration from 20-30 mph only and accelerating, not the tranny, not the drivers axle or the wheels/tires.

Hot damn! I thought I was stacking up mileage fast.... I am expecting to get to 178,000 in about another 3 years, at which point I will be giving the car to my daughter for her to learn to drive and first car (she's 13 now).

Glad to hear it's still doing well with that kind of mileage.
Keep us posted and keep on rolling!

2018 LE, w/ CVT, closing in on 9000 miles. No issues so far, except for some microscopic cracks/flaws/whatever in the windshield that are almost always completely invisible.

This thread is great! :)

All the other threads make me worry about problems I may have some day! o_O
