    Steering Drifts in Windy Conditions

There is a TSB on the steering issue, although your '11 model should've received that update. If your steering checks out, then I suggest the shape of the car is the culprit. My '09 is the first car I've had that is nearly impossible for me to back into a parking space. The thing is so...

Well, then maybe you should invent the thing.

    Next Generation of Corolla

Regulating the humidity at the air intake seems a practical impossibility. Can you imagine the size of the unit responsible for the control of such an enormous amount of air? We're talking about around 250 cubic feet of air per minute for an average 4-cylinder motor. Current A/C units are...

    Next Generation of Corolla

Have an '09 Corolla S, and consistently get over 40 mpg highway. As to an engine which can achieve 65 mpg, one manufacturer is claiming exactly that: http://www.scuderigroup.com/

    Throw-Out Bearing Release Bearing Problems

Yeah, keep taking it in. Sounds like the problem is with the cheap parts supplied to Toyota (again). You may ask your dealer if you could bring a better-quality one along, and have them put it in. Unsure if there is a compatible TRD bearing, but it would be worth the try to ask. The...

    2009 Corolla S Reving High

Awesome vid, dude. Wish more people thought to make visual representations of problems as you have done. Now you have PROOF of your problem, and I'd like to see your dealer/Toyota USA deny it. Of course, you realize you should send the link to your vid to Toyota USA. Wouldn't hurt if you...

    Next Generation of Corolla

Uh, like, I was speaking of style... you know, how it looks. Seems that the 10th-generation Corolla's styling is oh-so-very blah for many people, so perhaps the team that designed the 2013 Avalon should have a say-so in the design of the 11th-gen 'Rolla. How'd you people come to think I was...

    Other Vehicles You've Owned

My '09 Corolla S is so very easy to drive, and much, much more so than any vehicle I've owned, that I wouldn't want any of them over my 'Rolla. Yes, I sound like a commercial, but I'm telling the truth.

How Often Do You Change Your Oil?

Had been having my oil changed at one of two dealers in my area for two very good reasons: Less of the greasy finger prints, and they wash it when they're finished. However, I've reconsidered having my oil changed there, as they've taken the position -- and for the first time, at least with...

    2009 Corolla S Reving High

Scott, your 5-year, 60k-mile warranty is still good. If you've taken your '09 to Toyota, and they've told you to take a hike, or have given you the classic (and worn out) company line, "We've never heard of that before", you have two options: 1) Remind the dealer who gave you the Toyota...

    Next Generation of Corolla

Have you seen the new 2013 Avalon? The Toyota bashers are at it again, trying to convince the world the new California/Detroit design team missed their mark. But I say the car is freakin' BRILLIANT, and for the first time in quite a long while, the new Avalon has me saying, "I want it! I want...

    0W-20 Oil

The 0W oils, as I've come to understand them, are specified for the purpose of raising CAFE standards. The thinner the oil, the easier the engine spins, thereby increasing MPGs. As we all know, the sturdier the oil, the less the engine will wear. For the sake of your warranty, do what the...

    Premium Gasoline? Save Your Money

Hi vs. Low Octane? What I can say is back in the day (late '80s) when Amoco Ultimate -- the good 94 octane stuff -- was a mere $1.50 a gallon, I would add several gallons of it to a tank already filled with mid-grade, just to see what would happen. Doesn't increase performance, huh? BALONEY...

Should I Buy A Used Corolla?

As with any car -- without exception -- tell 'em to show you the CARFAX. After that, research engine problems. I forget which, but certain generations had HORRIBLE engines. They burned oil, and lots of it. Other generations had problems with door handles which broke off, and other sorts of...

    2011 S - Stock Radio Problems

Okay, here's the thing: This business of dealers telling us they've "never heard of anything like this" has to stop, and stop now. I quit having my oil changed at my dealer (their prices were about the same as anyone else's) because of all the greasy fingerprints all over my door -- and of...

My 93 Corolla is Getting Poor Gas Mileage

If you smell gas, and cannot find a leak, my best guess is that you need a carburetor overhaul -- and a complete one, not just a "rebuild". If your Corolla is burning a half tank of gas in 30 miles, that is a tremendous amount of fuel getting into your engine, and you run the great risk of...

    New Toyota Owners Site

Toyota Owners site is revamped, with online manuals... http://www.toyota.com/owners/web/pages/resources/owners-manuals The rest of the site looks good, but I haven't used it yet. Their old site was so lame, I've forgotten my user name and password to it!

    Lowering Spring Advice

TRD springs are Eibach springs with a TRD label on them. I'd go with a suspension kit from those folks, simply for the reason that Toyota Racing Development say they're good.

    Steering Drifts in Windy Conditions

My '09 S does, too. It's just physics: Force of air meets obstruction = whacky steering. Has been this way with every car or truck I've ever driven. If your 'Rolla tracks well in normal conditions, you're good.
