That noise is nothing, you should here the noise the tacoma makes when you shut it off. It comes from a emissions device under the hood and it sounds like someone with dry heaves.

The last time a corolla of mine had these symptoms, it turned out to be dirty fuel injectors, this happened on 2 different cars shortly after I bought them used. Probably poor maintenance by prev owner. Believe it or not all I did was put in a can of injector cleaner and it fixed it.

I don't think you can use d-3 it should be toyota T-IV ATF but it would be wise to ask our super moderator SCOTT O' KASHAN to be sure.

That pan holds 4 qts, I had a 05 corolla and I did the drain and fill many times but I would get new fluid from toyota dealer just my opinion, just let it drain out the rest of the way and be sure and check it before you drive.
