    No "downshift" '94 Corolla

Yikes. How many miles on your '94? You might start looking for used transmissions rather than spending time and money trouble-shooting this one... Beyond the basics of checking the fluid levels, and maybe doing a flush to see if there's any metal shavings, etc., I would just keep shifting...

    2015 Corolla - Towing a Small Trailer

I'm an attorney. I can tell you right now that another attorney sets those trailer tire speed limits, not an engineer. I'm not discounting what you're saying, and I carry a spare tire in case one lets go, but I'm putting less than 700 lbs. on tires rated to carry well over 1,000 lbs. I do...

    2015 Corolla - Towing a Small Trailer

Latest update on 'rolla towing: A thread-chaser cleaned up the weld-bolts enough to get the hitch installed. uHaul sold me the wiring harness (parts and labor!) for $65. I towed my open 4x8 trailer with 2 lawn mowers on it to my parents house about 10 miles away. I figured that was an easy...

over 200,000 miles on my 1996 Corolla

Don't buy a new car if you're going to park it on a college campus. Mine was hit (by a drunk driver?) while parked, had the mirror kicked off by an asshole, suffered a broken windshield while parked in a lot on campus, and was towed and impounded once for being "less than 5 feet from a driveway...

New Car Key cut, turns car on but engine won't turn

You mean it will turn to the 'accessories' portion of the ignition, but it won't actually crank the engine?

what model turbo? how does that affect highway fuel economy?

New guy here with a 2005 XRS...

I commute 47 miles each way for work, so 30mpg is about as low as I can stomach when gas prices go up. I also tend to drive more like 70-75, so not ideal speed for economy. To get back to your clutch question, you might have better luck searching for Celica GT-S clutches. I am assuming it's...

New guy here with a 2005 XRS...

what "they say" is rarely accurate, but you're right about your driving style being a factor. I get about 3 mpg better than fuelly says I should for my model year. I think that's based more on the amount of highway driving I do than anything else though. I'm just curious how much the...

    You Went How Fast?!

I have "time traveled" in the corolla - and by "time traveled," I mean I get bored when the wife and I drive to DC to visit friends, and somewhere in Maryland we get the GPS up to 88 mph and yell "WHAT DID I TELL YOU?!? 88 MILES PER HOUR!" in our best Doc Brown voices. on bikes, I raced 600cc...

New guy here with a 2005 XRS...

No input on the clutch (sorry) but I am really curious what kind of mileage you get with the XRS. Those will be high on my list when it's time to replace my current 'rolla. It will be a hard choice between XRS, or Acura TSX...

    Engine running VERY cold-blooded

correct. The other code the engine was throwing was "not reaching operating temp." Go figure!

    2015 Corolla - Towing a Small Trailer

Went to install the hitch yesterday, and either the hardware is different for a 2013 (what the hitch came off of) and a 2003, or my welded bolts are extremely rusted... suggestions? my plan was to buy new hardware for the tow hooks (where the hitch mounts), but I can't find that appropriate...

~10 years experience with 2003 Corolla with 193K miles

I only just rolled 130k, but I did kind of the opposite of the OP - I bought someone's garage queen that was 10+ years old, but only had 83,000 miles on it. I've had it less than 2 years, and put another 47,000 miles on it so far... If I can keep it for 300k, I definitely will. should hit...

    Contract Law

Contract law is not my area of practice, but "unconscionable" contracts are exceedingly rare. You're talking about things like cross-collateral agreements that are deemed so complicated, lay persons are deemed incapable of understanding them. The cross-collateral agreement referenced is in...

    2015 Corolla - Towing a Small Trailer

well, 4 months later, and I picked up a used Curt class I hitch for $40 on craigslist. I'll create a new fuelly account on my phone for the "rolla utility vehicle" to preserve my 'normal' driving average, and see how much the trailer really affects mileage. Haven't bought or priced...

    what is the difference?

I have no reason to believe you're not right, but I find it laughable that the "S" loses the utility of a fold-down rear seat just to add a silly brace... I get that rigidity helps handling, but there is very little that is "sporty" about the "S" option otherwise. Seems like a very dumb place...

    Digital Clock fading

    Installed air suspension

It's so foreign to me that other states have inspections... In Ohio, we have emissions checks every 2 years for vehicles over a certain age, but otherwise your vehicle is only inspected if it's been in a collision and you're trying to have a "salvage" title re-categorized as a "rebuilt" title...

    Installed air suspension

why does the first pic have different wheels than the rest? If it's still driveable when aired back up, I don't mind the style, i guess - i just can't rationalize putting that kind of money into a $16,000 car. Especially not with a mortgage and student loans to pay down. YMMV.
