That would be a lot harder and more expensive then the turbo kit. If you had a drive in my Corolla Turbo S I'll bet it would change your mind. It's less money to do, easier to do and when that turbo spools and the blow off value sounds it's music to my ear!

Not really. There were some early water pump issues with some 2009 models but those were taken care of on the 2010 model with a new design. I would just make sure all the fluids are changed, engine oil, either gear oil (MT) or trans fluid (AT), coolant, and brake fluid.

You can put your 205/55R16 tires on aftermarket 16" wheels but if you want 17" wheels you will want to buy a new set of 225/45R17 or 205/50R17 tires to put on them.

The proper diameter tire is 25.0". The 225/40R18 is 25.1" in diameter while the 225/45R18 is 26.0" in diameter. The 225/45R18 is way too big in diameter.

225/40R18 tires are the correct size and diameter. There should be no rubbing issues.

This is the biggest culprit. Short trips with a cold engine and cold fluids will kill MPG. You can easily get under 20 MPG in these scenarios.

I'm honestly surprised that more people haven't added the turbo kit. For a very reasonable price you can make your Corolla very unique with amazing power. So much fun to enjoy and always keep as a fun car when you may add a newer car down the road.
