What's the best method for reading the flat oil dipstick?

Hey there,

I recently purchased a 2010 Toyota Corolla S. So far, I love it!

I am trying to read the oil dipstick and it is difficult to read since I am used to the dipsticks with Xs or markings on it. What is your best method for reading it? There are two tiny indentations on the top and bottom that I see. When I check the oil it seems to slip on the stick which makes it hard to read.

Any tips/ideas?

as long as the level is in between those indentations you are fine, however stopping gravity from making the oil dip off the stick is a problem. My stick is different, but the oil also wants to run down and drip off the end, all I can suggest is to be a little quicker in pulling it out and reading it.
