I Have a 2014 Corolla, but the voice recognition just says initializing and never works, but was working before.

Mine has been doing this for a while as well. even during long trips never "starts"

It did randomly work one day, but not since then.

It is slow to load. Takes a minute or two.

I had my unit replaced under warranty, and the new one seems to initialize faster.

Like I said, I've gone on 2+ hour trips without it ever loading

I'd get the head unit replaced under warranty. Chances are your dealer has already replaced so many of them, that if you call the service department and tell them about your problem, they'll just order it without even wanting you to bring the car in.
