Question about 07 vs 09 Corolla

#1
Hey everyone,

I am looking at buying a used Corolla here soon because I need something reliable for school and work. I have narrowed it down to a couple, and I was wondering if you guys have any insight on which model year is better.

One is a 2007 Corolla LE with 144k, and the other is a 2009 Corolla LE with 134k. They are both listed very close to $5,000. Do you guys know of any major issues with either of them that are common for that style? I know the body style changed between those years so I was wondering if there were any other big changes that resulted in a preferential difference.

Thanks for any help you guys can bring,

Adam

The 09 was the first year of the new model and had recalls. I think accelerator pedal, floor mats (that whole think about getting stuck and making the car accelerate) and others I think. If you consider the 09 I would make sure all the recalls have been done on it. While the 07 was the last year (I believe the 09 was sold in 08 and billed as an 09 model) of that particular model so all the issues would have been worked out. I think the 09 is bigger in every dimension than the 07. I also think the 09 is rated slightly better at fuel economy due to the electric power steering and drive by wire pedal. It is up to you what you prefer.
