Lug Nuts

I noticed this the last time I rotated my tires (8000kms). today I rotated again and they don't seem to be any worse, however the only ones affected are the front ones the rear are perfect. my question is, is this normal? I ask cuz I don't want to ask the dealership so they push me to get new ones. that being said I cleaned them up and applied clear finger nail polish to them. this is what they look like now and I will see what they look like when I rotate again.

By the way, when tires are rotated it's a very good preventative maintenance practice to also rebalance them. This will provide greater driving comfort, (less vibration), and will help extend tire life. Call around to your local tire stores and ask about a lifetime rotation, balance package that you can purchase, where they will rotate and rebalance your tires for as long as you have them on the car.

The rust/corrosion on the lug nut looks very mild to me and only on the surface. This is not uncommon.

As your tires roll down the road they don't wear perfectly evenly, so they slowly get out of balance. You wont notice this getting worse until the steering wheel is shaking in your hands but by that time, excessive tire wear from the vibration/out of balance condition has already occurred. Preventative maintenance is key.

Heat plays a big role, as well moisture. Detail the lugs, with Wax to prevent rust vasoline will not hurt.

balancing tire, lets not forget wheel alignment is needed you are tossing now wear to the opposite side..
