I am curious when you clear a check engine light (CEL) by using a scan tool is it equivalent to when you clear the code by disconnecting the battery? I believe when you clear the code by disconnecting the battery the PCM/ECM will need to re-learn and store into adaptive memory your engines performance characteristics. Does the re-learn also occur when you clear the code using a scan tool? I see quite a few people online without a scan tool will reset their CEL by disconnecting the battery and I was wondering if it is one and the same? As always, Thanks!
