Hi,

I am in the market for a used Corolla and looked at a 2004 LE with about 138K on it yesterday. It's in very nice condition, the interior is excellent, runs well. An older man used it as a daily commuter. It has had very little work done except brakes, tires and battery. It seems to me this is kind of good news/bad news. I know it's pretty hard to predict but what is likely to need replacing soon? I'm thinking cat, other exhaust, starter, alternator, radiator, water pump, front end, wheel bearings.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Mike, most parts have a "lifetime" that is recommended to change that part. You should get the car history and check which parts are "dieing".
Otherwise, if you cannot do that, change the most important parts that can really damage your car and make a prevention change, i.e. timing belt, filters etc.
