I have a Toyota Corolla YR 94 Automatic 1.6, which I love so much.. There is a loud squealing noise on start up. I have changed the Drive belt ( serpentine) and the noise went for a day or two. The noise is back again but only when I turn the steering on whichever way, otherwise there is no noise. It only last for few seconds, but it is understandably disturbing my neighbours in the morning!!
The tension on the Drive belt is perfect. No tear on the ' power steering box drive' belt and tension is fine.
Can someone please advise. Thank you
Just to add that power steering fluid is at normal level when cold.

check alternator bolt, I have heard some loud squealing from cars when turning wheel especially in car parks etc and when the alternator bolt is tightened it goes away. try this and let me know how you get on. If not this it might be something to do with the starter motor.

Hi corolla man01, Thank you for the advice. The alternator bolt if fixed, no play in it. It is tightened to the maximum and tension of the belt is fine. It does not make any noise while turning on starting, but only when the wheel is turned right or left for few seconds. No noise if going straight. There is no squealing noise after the few seconds starting from cold. Thanks for any further advice. Navin

hmm strange. not sure what it could be. Hope it gets fixed soon.
