Electric Motor "Wirr" When Turning Car Off

I just noticed this the other day.

I have push button start in my car, and after I put the car in park, several seconds later I push the button to turn the car off, and then, as I open the drivers door (I only notice it when opening the door), I can hear what sounds like a small electric servo-like noise coming from the left hand side of the steering wheel.

Anyone know what it might be?

I leave my headlights "On" and have it set in EnTune to turn the lights off immediately, which happens when you open the door. I'm wondering if it might be something in the headlight switch.

Its the steering wheel lock. If you try to move the wheel after you open the door it will lock in place.

I expected it was normal, just curious to know what it was.

I did notice the same noise when the passenger side door is opened, after freshly turning off the ignition. Did not open the driver side door. The steering wheel locks when the passenger gets out?

Slightly strange.
