Hey guys.
I have a cracked exhaust pipe on my 05 Corolla. (55k miles). I have attached pictures showing the crack and so you can see its location. I am not really sure how to describe the location other than it seems to be right by some sort of connector.
I found many articles about cracks in the exhaust manifold but this seems to be somewhere else. At first look it seemed as though there were two separate pipes going into this connector, so I thought the connector had just come loose. Unfortunately, it seems like the pipe is welded to the connector, and it cracked straight through. So, of course my car sounds much louder while driving.
Any advice for fixing this? What parts do I need to get to replace it? From looking at other posts, I am uncertain exactly where this crack is as all of the old post's pictures have been removed... But the other posts talk about welding, or cutting and clamping. I can handle straightforward mechanic work, but am not comfortable with welding. Is this something I can buy a new pipe for and from unscrewing and re-screwing the connector/clamp, make it work? Or will I need to take it to a shop for welding?
Thank you to everyone in advance!
