Post year, trim level, transmission type & MPG EPA rating.
Fill up gas tank to start challenge & no topping off gas.
Reset odometer Trip A & B.
Drive until Gas tank reaches approximately HALF tank & divide miles with the amount of gallons it took to fill up to determine the mpg for each half tank.
Take and post photos of miles on the first half tank on Trip A on Odometer and fill up gas and switch odometer to Trip B to record new miles on 2nd half tank.
EXAMPLE
Trip A on odometer will display both miles from Trip A&B .
Trip A 261 miles took 7.1 gallons & Trip B 242 miles took 6.2 gallons
Trip A 261 miles/ 7.1 gallons= 36.76MPG for the First HALF tank
Trip B 242 miles/ 6.2 gallons= 39MPG for the Second HALF tank
503 miles Total /13.3 gallons= 37.81MPG overall for a Full tank.
I’ve noticed better MPG this way than letting it go all the way to Empty. Helps saves the life of the fuel pump too.
Try it out!
