Can I fill my tank with Hi-Octane Only?

#1
I just bought Corolla 1.8CVT 2ZR-FE. In my country premiere and HOBC available and premiere has 87 Octane grade or may be below that. Can I fill my Corolla 1.8 CVT with only Hi-Octane i.e 92 octane grade? Or should I mix it with premiere petrol like "50/50"? Thanks in advance

In Pakistan. I guess premiere has even low quality. But my Car's owner manual suggests Octane Grade 87 or higher, that means I can use Hi-Octane right?

At least with the fuels in the US, 87 octane is all you need for these vehicles, anything higher is a waste of money and serves no purpose other than draining your wallet faster. Now if there are any additives or differences in the refinement process for your fuels, there may be a need to think a little differently.

I agree exactly with what brew captain just said. I am not familiar with Pakistan's fuel quality. If you are running a good quality fuel, there should be very little reason to run higher than 87 octane. If you live in very hot and dry climates and run a full load, running 89 octane or higher can help the engine run better as engines are more prone to knocking under those conditions. In that case, the higher octane makes it less likely that the engine would need to pull timing. If higher octane fuels in your country are refined to higher standards or have better additive packages, then running premium can be better.

First and foremost, make sure that you are only filling up at the stations that have a reputation for selling good petrol. You can mix the regular and premium octanes to achieve an intermediate octane level, but the trick is trying to keep it consistent. With the high temperatures and dry climates that you have, running a higher octane fuel can be of benefit. If that is the case, it should not hurt to just consistently run premium fuel if you are worried. You could try the 87 octane from a reputable station and start from there.
