Automatic gear shifter.

Ok I got 2001 toyota corolla and I can't get my key out of the ignition and the shifter won't leave park. Things I have tried are dismantling the shifter knob. Pressing the shifter over ride button and am thinking about ripping the dash apart to see what's going on and yes I have tried fiddling with the key and steering wheele at the same time. If all else fails I'm going to spend the money and get the dealership to fix it.

What position is the key in the key cylinder stuck in? Will if still turn just not come out? Unless your car isn't fully in park I don't believe the shifter is your problem. You may need a new key cylinder. That's if your steering wheel isn't locked with the key in the ignition.
