Hi all, I recently purchased a 2011 Corolla S for my son as his first car. My wife was driving it today and noticed that the dash seemed dark during the day. Looking at the dash, the dash lights work fine with the headlights on or the driving lights on, dimmer works fine. With lights off there is no illumination to the dash at all. Is this normal?
Are there daytime dash lights on 2011 Corolla?

This is normal, dash lights should not be on during the day in my opinion. I see so many people that drive with there lights off at night because they think they are on because the dash lights are on. At least in Canada there has been legislation in place ( I believe to start in 2020) to have manufacturers correct this. I don't know why or which manufacturer ( I know FCA does this as I have a Chrysler) thought having the dash lights on during the day with the headlights off a good idea. I have automatic lights so I don't have an issue and to answer your question, in Canada 2011 have DRL, but I don't think they do in the US.
