If your driving is affected by snow & ice, winter tires gives your car the grip and comfort it needs.
I would highly recommend the Nokian All-Weather tires if you live in an area that gets snow but don't want to have two sets of tires for each season, I haven't found anything that can compete with them. They are a new concept - All-Weather, not All Season. They look kind of like snow tires, perform like snow tires in the winter but they are intended to be used all season and are surprisingly quiet and responsive in warm dry conditions, and come with an 80,000 km tread warranty.

For me this puts the winter tire argument to rest - you don't need to swap dedicated winter tires on and off every year, instead you can have true solid performance in all seasons and eliminate the need for tire swapping, and they look great on stock rims, you don't need to buy ugly winter rims.
They are made in Iceland I believe, and in Canada they are only available at Kal-Tire as far as I know.
Price point a bit higher than Yokohoma's. Here about $190 Cad
Dollars maybe your region gets a more competetive price.

I am thinking my tires are probably good for 2 more years, but I will keep those in mind.
When I looked at them online the tread pattern to the right side of the tire looks more standard
and the tread on the inner side looks more snow tackle . I live about 90 miles straight east of the lower tip of Lake Michigan
and we get some nasty snow falls on occasion . A lot is blamed on lake effect snow. I hope they do a good job for you Jim

Wow, I would have never thought of checking the thread pattern feature you just described.
I will see how they perform for me this winter, since my Clearwater fl., escape looks very doubtful this year. So far they really ride smoothly and cornering etc is safe to me. Haven't figure out what kind of mileage she'll get on her new "heels", no doubt safety will be my primary payoff.
Yeah like Michigan, we get the Alberta clipper which dumps periodically and most scarry chickens like me try to escape or else confine to our homes like prisons or dark tunnells.
For every day of our dark winter television is what keeps me sane.

hello, not sure if you are asking opinions or not but I had a set of Hancock Optimo 4S that I purchased at Canadian Tire years ago. a few months ago I replaced them with the Nordman Solstice (they are a Nokian off brand tire that are a little less $$$). Where I live we don't deal with snow much so All Weather tires fit the bill nicely. I even got a set for my daughters car at the same time.

I fully agree, your area is probably my dream wish to live one day. Here is so not the place in winter. Lol, feel free to inject your observations.
