Air Intake Upgrade

I'm fairly new to the car modification world and especially for Corollas. I have a 2012 LE and looking to upgrade the air intake. I've read that you can get the same results from a stock K&N and a silicone hose as with a short ram. Is this true? Alot of sites for other cars also say if the car doesn't have high horsepower a cold air won't be effective enough.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

In all honesty a "cold air" intake will only help modestly. Unless it is combined with other mods like, headers, exhaust, and all the other things just one thing is not going to improve much. if nothing else will be done then just putting in a K&N replacement filter should do the trick.
