2017 Toyota corolla socket won't go on plugs

I can't get my socket on the sparkplug ..the only two sockets that fit in the cylinder are a 5\8 or a 9\16

Just a guess, here, but I'd expect you'd need metric.

I think the corolla spark plug is 14mm socket .

It was awhile back that I did a plug change, But I think I recall having to use an extension on my ratchet wrench to get down in there.
