hi all. im new here
i am i the market for a small car for my daughter and there is a '13 corolla that looks very good. it has done 30k. and has the cvt trans.
what are these like reliabilty wise, and service cost ect.
i can see that in the forum the 2013 is in a different spot to the 2014. do the '13 and '14 differ? how so.
i have found a few bad reports about the '14 cvt, but cant find any that reference the '13.
any advice would be much appreciated

2014 is the first year of the new "11th generation" Corolla.

This will give you some details of the differences: http://toyotanews.pressroom.toyota.com/releases/toyota+reveals+next-generation+corolla+june6.htm

As with any new redesign there are usually some issues to be worked out.
NHTSA complaints by model year: http://www.carcomplaints.com/Toyota/Corolla/

(The number of complaints shown are only those reported to NTHSA,
The data would be best taken with a grain of salt and not reflective of an actual number)

oops just found this:

"CarComplaints.com is an online automotive complaint resource that uses graphs to show automotive defect patterns, based on complaint data submitted by visitors to the site. The complaints are organized into groups with data published by vehicle, vehicle component, and specific problem"

image.jpeg image.jpeg The fact that the Corolla is consistently listed among "most reliable used cars for every budget" and rated much better than average for maintenance in Consumer Reports magazine was a no brainer for me. I've had mine for 7 months and there's not a peep from it.

The thing that you have to realize about websites like CarComplaints is that the people that post there are generally people who have some sort of compliant: valid or not. There have been more than 43 million Toyota Corollas sold worldwide over the last 50 years, that's over 860,000 a year. Historically more Corollas have been sold that any other car anywhere ever! Now compare the posts (valid or not) from CarComplaints to the number of Corollas sold: not even a fly speck.
