I have a certified used automatic 2011 Corolla LE that I bought from a Toyota dealership in April/May of this year. When the mileage hit 40,200 miles I took it back and had them change the oil cause it was free to do so & they used synthetic oil. The next scheduled oil change on the sticker says 50,200 miles but the Maintanence Required light has come on and stayed on since the mileage turned about 45,200. According to the owners manual the Maint Reqd. light means it needs an oil change, but Im confused why it would come on so early.
Also I recently moved to another part of the country & drove my Corolla many miles, should I just change the oil anyway cause of the very long distance driven to get here?
One more thing I dont see anywhere in the owners manual about whats the correct mileage interval to do an oil change for my car......anyone know? I think I saw every 5,000 miles, but is that for conventional oil? ok one more thing whats the correct weight of oil to use I plan to use synthetic only & I think the dealership had used synthetic 0-20w, but I'm now in southern california & the winter weather is very mild here. Thanks for any replies
