Misfire cylinder 4 bought. A new coil pack. No change. Replaced spark plugs. . No change. Its running ruff & & the code said cylinder 4 misfire. Changed what I just stated above. And its still doing the same thing. Hesitation when I step on the gas and u can feel the misfire. When I unplug the fuel injector #4 there's no change in idle. So I swaped fuel injectors & the same thing no change in idle witch happens when I unplug the other ones. Volts are The same on every connector & resistance is the same for every injector.what could it be to cause a missfire? The cat? Vacuum leak? Erg valve? Like I said I unplug fuel injector. 4 and there is no change in idle. What could it be? Any input would be appreciated

OK I forgot to mention this sometimes it rides fine but everytime I get to 50mph I hear a loud knocking sound coming from the engin. Take my foot off the gas and it stops. Step on the gas and as soon as I hit 50 its aloud knocking noise that vibrates . Meanwhile the check engin lite is on an blinking indicating a misfire

frankiea - I hate to say this, but the loud knocking coming from the engine sounds very serious. Have you checked the oil level?

What trouble codes are coming up? If you don't own a code scanner, you can take your car to Advance Auto Parts, Autozone or most any auto parts store and they will scan your cars onboard computer for free and tell you what the trouble codes are, (unless you live in California).

I advise not driving the car further until you know what exactly is causing the engine knocking sound, as that is likely to be a serious internal engine problem and driving it any further could result in a catastrophic internal engine part failure costing thousands of dollars to repair.

I agree with Scott. Stop driving the car. You may have mechanical damage with the piston inside Cylinder #4, and continuing to drive it like that is going to eventually cause severe and irreversible damage.

Hey its been a few days & the car is still running. oil level is good. can't figure out why it hesitates & has alil ruff idel. changed plug, checked for vacumleaks. is therea fuel filter on a 2002 Toyota corolla? If so where is it??. Could it be the fuel injectors? If i unplug the number 4 injector there is no change in idel. if i un plug any other one the idel changes. if i unplug the number4 coil pack the car stalls just like it should but when i unplung the number 4 fuel injector theres no change. also th e plastic housing on all the fuel injectorsare cracked so i know that can't be good.. any input would be much appreciated. new injectors??
