2000 Corolla - Hesitation - New MAF, Spark Plugs, EVAP Check

#1
Howdy folks... first time poster here. Hope all of you who celebrate Christmas had a Merry Christmas.

My sister has a 2000 Corolla with 95k miles that started hesitating upon accleration since some repairs were done about a month ago (see below). She got this Corolla a little over 3 years ago with about 90k or so (I forget the actual mileage when she got it). She drove it with the MIL (Check Engine light) on until last month when she had to fix the MIL light to pass the emissions testing where we live to get her registration.

The MIL codes were P0171, P0440, P0441 and P0446. I think there was also a P0500 in there at one time, but it hasn't come back since the MIL was reset last month.

Last month, she took it to a shop that did the following
- Checked the EVAP system for leaks and issues - the mechanic didn't find any
- Replaced spark plugs
- Tried, but failed, to fix the P0171. I did some googling and would up replacing the MAF sensor with one from AutoZone (parts counter worker changed it out, along with a new air filter, in the parking lot- coulda done it myself, but opted to save a trip back home since that's where the needed tools are)

The MIL has stayed off since it was reset after the repairs were done last month. My sister has probably driven 100 miles or so since then (rough guesstimate).

But her car started hesitating when she accelerates after these repairs were done. It never did that before these repairs.

I'm guessing:
- Bad MAF sensor from AutoZone. How can I confirm it's bad, even though it isn't throwing a code?
- The mechanic put in bad/wrong spark plugs
- Throttle body needs cleaning. But the car ran fine with the MIL on before the repairs.
- The fuel pump is starting to go, but there was no hesitation prior to the aforementioned repairs

Where should I begin looking? Is there an easy way to check for a bad fuel pump (I've never messed with a fuel pump or checked fuel pressure before)? Anything else I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can give! :)

Check the spark plugs and check the gap as well. That will cause hesitation. MAF will throw a check engine light if it is running out of parameter (and a bad MAF will typically keep the car in open-loop operation as well as turn on the MIL).

Fuel pumps either work 100% or completely fail, typically, but usually a bad fuel pump (that still runs the car) will throw a lack of HO2S switch - sensor stuck lean code.
