2000 Corolla - Debris in Injector Hole

#1
while changing my fuel injectors on my 2000 corolla a small piece of plastic from a stripped wire fell into the injector hole. i was looking for it with a flashlight but could not see it. I also tried using a shopvac to get it out but nothing. does anyone know if there is a way to get it out or if it will even affect the vehicle performance since it is about a 1/4 inch long.

thanks any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

thanks, i started the vehicle and now have ran it for a while but now its giving me a 304 code and a 0171. That is the same cylnder where the debris fell in. dont know if i have to take it apart now or try something else?

Just out of curiosity, why did you change the fuel injectors in the first place? Let's start from there. A piece of plastic wire insulation shouldn't have caused that (and if the vacuum didn't get it out, the engine should have spat it out a long time ago without any damage since the plastic is too soft to do harm).

Only way that plastic would have caused this code, is if the vacuum didn't get it out, and it managed to find itself in a place where you couldn't see it, and it is causing the injector's o-ring to leak. I really don't see that as a likely possibility though.

initially i got a 301 and 303 code so i swapped injectors to see if this would tell me if this was the cause. I started by swapping the coils and this did not change so then i tried the injectors and the codes did not change. I finally checked the spark plugs (which i had changed about 6 months ago due to the fact that they had never been changed and i was getting a misfire code.) and they looked bad so i changed them and that got rid of those codes but now i am getting a 0304 code which is where the piece of plastic fell in and I am getting a 0171 code. when i first bought the car it ran well but i knew it needed some work. then i got a whole bunch of codes which i troubleshot and fixed all the problems where the car ran better than when i bought it. but now i am getting that code and i am thinking of swapping the injector to see if this will determine the problem. any suggestions?

The injectors are new, but you can swap them to see if the problem moves. Another thing to check would be vacuum leaks. If they are severe enough, those will cause misfires as well.
