1999 Corolla - Won't Start

#1
My friend has a 99 auto Corolla. Went to start it and it cranks and wants to start but just won't catch. What troubleshooting tips can you give? Will cam or crank sensor cause a condition like this? I tried holding pedal to floor still no go. Idk if it's fuel or spark. Any help appreciated thanks!

Spray some carb cleaner down the throttle body see if it wants to start then. If it does could be fuel pump. Could also disconnect fuel line to throttle body and try starting see if gas pumps out.

I've also seen an automatic relay on some vehicles that will shut of gas and spark in case of accident. I don't know if your Corolla has one but I would also check relays and fuses if it's not the fuel pump or maybe even filter.

Good luck.

Scott thanks it was doing that before I tried depressing the pedal it was a last ditch effort before tearing into troubleshooting.

Savior Fair(I heard you were everywhere!) ;)

I'll try the things you mentioned and thank you for your time. Time for me to study up elsewhere and get my hands dirty I guess. I was hoping someone would pipe up and say. "Mine did exactly that and "x" fixed it!" No such luck I guess. Lol
