1995 Corolla 5-Speed - Can I Refill Through The reverse switch Hole?

I cannot get the fill plug out of the trans case. I read the capacity is 2 qts.
I did drain the trans (that plug came out easily) so I can fill to spec. capacity.

Any reason I cannot pull the temp sensor on top of the manual trans and refill through that opening?

I have CV seal questions too but I'll get this one out of the way 1st

That isn't the temperature sensor, that is the reverse sensor. You risk overfilling by not using the fill plug (usually you fill fluid to the bottom of the fill plug hole, then you are good).

If the fill capacity says 2 quarts, and you are certain you drained two quarts, you can fill through that hole, just be careful, and wait for the fluid to settle to the bottom before putting the reverse sensor back in.

Any reason you can't pull the fill plug? Is it a lack of room or is the fill plug cross-threaded?

The PO tightened the fill plug so tight I cannot get it out. With a cheater-bar I can feel the hex bolt start to round off. I have not tried heat yet because it's hard to get a torch on it. That, and the whole engine is full of gear oil from the CV seal leak.

I did take out the drain plug and drain the transmission. I just watched a vid where the guy put in 2.7 quarts. Once I confirm capacity I may have to go this route
