1990 Toyota Corolla transmission REMOVAL help!!

Hello guys my manual 5-speed tranny just went out on my 90 Corolla. :( I happened to locate a used transmission with not too high of miles for $150 at a parts yard but I'm curious about the removal of said transmission... I've only ever removed a transmission out of a chevy truck (easy peasy) but with the FWD asspect I really have no clue about how to do this... Do I have to pull the motor out? or Do I just drop it out the bottom after dissassembling? I've searched on google and on this forum for information about this and have come up dry so anyone that has done this i would love some input before i start dissassembling everything

Also.... the transmission i am getting is coming out of a 1989 toyota corolla with a 4AF motor and mine is a 1990 toyota corolla with a 4AFE motor... (both say transmission is C50) these should be the same transmission and bolt together fine correct??

I would recommend searching YouTube for video help with a transmission removal for a 1990 or similar year Corolla. That's what I did when I changed my clutch on my 1997 Spyder. Just make sure that you have all of the tools required for doing this type of work, it wasn't a simple job but having the right tools made a world of difference. I took a lot of pictures also just so I could remember how to put everything back together.

Yeah, I have searched YouTube ... maybe I suck at it but I couldn't find anything about removing a transmission ... there is loads of info on tearing one down and rebuilding it but not actually taking it from the vehicle. I looked at some videos of FWD transmission removal and it was hit and miss whether they removed the engine so IDK where to go from here.... I think I may go buy a Chilton and see if it has any information on it.... thanks for the reply
