have you looked and see if there's a fuse for the DRL? besides a corolla and a camry, I own a silverado and there is a specific fuse for them. It wont mess with the light function.

I dont think any of the models has anything to do with it, they are all the same engine... i have the "L" model and just bought it to commute from savannah to new orleans, well bought it last friday and dealer filled it up, saturday went from new orleans to pensacola, spent 2 nights and monday...
