Trick To Get The Cam Cover Off?

1993 w/1.6 engine - There are four long bolts which definitely hold the cam cover on and two short bolts near the timing belt end which may hold it on. All of them are off and the cover still seems like it might be welded on. There are no sticking-out bosses to tap on and I am Extremely...

Why wouldn't you fix it Nate ? If the cars like it are typically selling in the $9K range - why not spend the $5K to fix it? Why would you take the $1800. instead of fixing it? PHM ------

2006 - I Need to Replace the Entire Rear Body - What Years Will Fit?

Thanks Nate - what would you do ? The parts for 2003 and 2004 Corollas are much less - so if they will fit that seems like a better source for them. Although I am sort of up in the air about what to do. My 2006 w/60K miles is apparently worth maybe $9000. in nice shape. But my body...

    Will a 2006 A/C Comp. Fit a 1993 ?

Will a 2006 A/C comp. fit a 1993 ? Some AH totaled my 2006 Corolla and my 1993 Corolla needs an A/C compressor I think. Will the 2006 compressor fit onto a 1993 without massive amounts of work ?

    Anybody Towing With a Corolla?

Anybody towing with a Corolla 1.6 with a five-speed manual transmission? Or even with an automatic Corolla for that matter. <g> I want to tow a small utility trailer. Probably 1500 lbs. would be the maximum gross weight. I think the empty trailer weighs about 400 lbs, by itself. I was...

2006 Corolla Too Light - Tires Spin

What I did about tires I bought this 2006 automatic new but hardly drove it - once a week going out to dinner. It always slide around, even on dry roads, and was about like driving on ice in even light rain. I grew up driving fast cars on dirt tracks and it didn't bother me all that much. In...

2006 Corolla Too Light - Tires Spin

How about a Primacy then ? The Michelin Primacy tire is rated higher all around than the Harmony and are only a few dollars more. And are quieter than something like a Continental. Which is my opinion always seem to provide the best traction - especially wet - but the Continentals do make...

2003 Corolla - Rocker Panel Rust

Rust converter is good stuff - Rust converter is good stuff - but it only works on rust. If you apply it to bare metal - it doesn't work as there is nothing to convert. If you have rust bubbles you probably have perforation. And, as you cannot get to the inside of the panels to grind them...

What Are the Rubber Parts on My Front Struts?

2006 Corolla LE. 60,000 miles. On the front struts both of the rubber bellows on the struts (inside the spring) are all ripped up. The shiny shaft of the shock absorber part of the strut is showing. How important are these rubber parts? Replacing them seem like it would require...

    2003 Corolla Blower Problems

I have had things stuck in the blower wheel And also a broken blower wheel rubbing slightly on the housing. But my first guess would be a dry bad bearing complaining: begging for some oil. <g> As I said before; if the blower motor is easy to get to, and/or easy to get out, you could try...

1993 Prizm - Rebuild or Swap?

I wonder if a 2.7 engine can be made to fit ? I have a Tacoma with a 2.7 liter engine and it is surprisingly powerful for a four cylinder. Maybe wedging one of those with five speed trans into your needs-an-engine car would be a cool upgrade. That would add about 60% more engine capacity. <g>

How Long Has Anyone Run a Timing Belt ?

I would imagine a timing chain to last "forever" I would expect a timing Chain to last as long as an engine rebuild - several hundred thousand miles. But apparently belts do not - as there is a recommended-change interval listed for them. With my 1993 w/1.6 the belt breaking isn't as bad as...
