AC problem turn on and off several times for it to work and blow cold

#1
Hello, Im trying to see if anyone is having a problem. My 2015 Corolla S AC started acting up. I turn it on and it says it is on but it blows warm air. I turn it off and on several times and still nothing but the screen says it is on. Then after some time and several times of turning it off and on it finally blows freezing cold air. Not sure if it is a relay or the AC compressor? has anyone else had this happen. I did have a few times while driving when it went from cold to warm and back again. Thanks in advance.

You don't mention how long it takes before finally blowing cold : 2 minutes might be normal, 2 hours might not be... Beside some slight delay being normal you might need to check the system pressure/level or that the shaft plate isn't slipping from the pulley (Those are clutch less systems, no relay).

I takes more than 2 minutes It will run warm for 15 minutes or longer. Then after waiting 5 minutes and turning it off and on it will turn on and work fine.

There is a Magnetic AC clutch relay in the fuse box on the right side of the engine. It's labeled as "MGC" if you flip the cover over. Since it's a relay, they do fail over time. I change this out as the first resort in any AC problem that won't blow cold air.

So it's back to check the system pressure/level or that the shaft plate isn't slipping from the pulley.

Thanks I will take a look regarding the relay. It is so randomly I'm not sure how to diagnose the issue. One time I will start the car turn it on and it works fine. Another time it takes long to cool and another i have to wait 10-15 minutes for it to work.

Well unfortunately it was the compressor that died. Im pretty disappointed in this Since all the other toyotas Ive owned have never had this happen especially at 72K miles. Pretty expensive repair as well.

I don't have anything in this location marked MGC or S HORN. Those two slots are empty. My AC blows warm only.
