btw, can i mix castrol and mobile 0w-20 oil when change? they are all full synthetic.
"0w-20" is the type of oil (it has specific characteristics regarding the variance of viscosity at a certain temperature to be considered 0W-20 not 5W-30 or other). Mobil, Castrol, etc are brands.
The "difference" between brands is related to some (kind of secret) additives cocktail to make them "long-lasting", "better lubrication", you name it.
Kind of salt in the soup that makes soups different. If you mix 0W-20 with 0W-20 you will have 0W-20. No clogs in the mixed oil, no risk of explosion. If you mix 0- 20 with another oil, (5w-30 or other types) you will get a different oil with different characteristics that may be calculated using certain graphics or making certain tests. This is not for the large public interest.
The idea is if a car manufacturer recommends a certain type of oil, this means he made extended tests with different types of oils on his motor, to get the best results in most of the conditions.
