2017 corolla oil change interval

#1
I changed my 2017 corolla engine oil and filter 5000 miles ago, using 0w-20.
Some web say if 0w-20 is used, I can change it every 10k miles. Is that true?
The on board computer keep remind me service required, do I just reset it now?

The on board computer on my 2014 comes on every 5K miles and I reset it every time. The owners manual will tell you how if you have a problem. All 0-20W oil is synthetic it will hold up longer than conventional oil. It could hold up for 10K under ideal conditions but I would recommend 5-7K oil changes if you want your car to hold up well.

Service reminder is merely programmed to show every 5K, since schedule maintenance has something every 5k like tire rotation or more or less important "inspections" but not necessarily oil change. Synthetic 0W20 is the required one and may easily last 10K. "May", because it has all to do with your specific driving hatits/conditions. Mostly highway at regular speeds in ideal temperature doesn't affect oil that much VS frequent heavy urban stop and go trafic in harsh temperature or dusty roads that would definitely require more frequent change.

thanks jolly and Toyboy. i will just check brake/fluid and do tire rotation at this 45k maintenance myself then.
my day commute is 40 mile highway so i think at least it can last another 5k.

"0w-20" is the type of oil (it has specific characteristics regarding the variance of viscosity at a certain temperature to be considered 0W-20 not 5W-30 or other). Mobil, Castrol, etc are brands.
The "difference" between brands is related to some (kind of secret) additives cocktail to make them "long-lasting", "better lubrication", you name it.
Kind of salt in the soup that makes soups different. If you mix 0W-20 with 0W-20 you will have 0W-20. No clogs in the mixed oil, no risk of explosion. If you mix 0- 20 with another oil, (5w-30 or other types) you will get a different oil with different characteristics that may be calculated using certain graphics or making certain tests. This is not for the large public interest.
The idea is if a car manufacturer recommends a certain type of oil, this means he made extended tests with different types of oils on his motor, to get the best results in most of the conditions.
