2008 Corolla LE - CD player won't accept CDs

Hello -- My mother's 2008 Corolla LE has the original A51814 AM/F/CD unit. A few weeks ago, she complained that it wouldn't let her load CDs into the front slot any more. I checked and sure enough she was right this time. Here is the problem:

When you press the LOAD button, the unit responds with WAIT for about 15 seconds. Amber lights on either side of unit flash. After 15 seconds, unit beeps *twice* and returns to original state.

I should mention that the CD slot is blocked/not open. I tried inserting a CD and could not get it in.

When you press the EJECT button, the unit responds with NO DISC.

Thanks for reading. Any ideas on what is going on and if/how this can be fixed would be most appreciated.

Sounds like it might need to be replaced. Sometimes you can find an OEM replacement. Or you can get them fairly inexpensive off amazon or at Walmart. Installation isn’t too difficult.

Blessing in disguise. Replace with a unit that has USB. Crutchfield.com
If you don't want to do that, there may be a CD stuck in there (that the unit can't detect), or the lens track is stuck in one position (it needs to slide back and forth).

I agree! Changing out the OEM stereo deck was one of my mods for my Corolla.

Replace it with a pioneer.- Bluetooth and the radio kit for 100 bucks. Easy diy
