Im looking at buying rims for my ‘15 Rolla S
17”x7.5” Diameter, +38 Offset, 5x100 Bolt Pattern with 225/45ZR17 W tires from CarID, i’ve never bought rims from this site and just wanted to make sure they would fit

I have no problems running 18x8.5 35mm offset with 225/45/18 tires. Plenty of room to go bigger!

Those will fit just fine and the tire size is the best diameter fit. You are even okay with any wheel that is 8" wide and a 35mm offset.

I have no problems running 18x8.5 35mm offset with 225/45/18 tires. Plenty of room to go bigger!

Actually a 225/45R18 tire is too big. You should be using a 225/40R18 for the proper diameter that will keep your speedometer accurate. The proper diameter for the Corolla his 25.0" and the 225/45R18 is 26.0" which is way too big.

I did the plus +2/-2 method and this is what it gave me. They are too tall though, I agree.

Well you calculated something wrong. I'm surprised that the tire shop you used didn't catch it. Here are the correct diameter sizes for our Corolla.

195/65R15
205/55R16
205/50R17
225/45R17
245/40R17
225/40R18
215/35R19

Any of these tire sizes are at the 25" diameter.

I had the
205/55/R16 and went to
225/45R18
+2/-2

Lol, I purchased the tires online and had them shipped to the tire shop. Then I brought the wheels in boxes to them.
They looked awesome at first, but now they definitely look too tall. I’m also kinda tired of the rims too.

It doesn't work like that as you think +2/-2 in sizes. As you you can see from the sizes I listed that are a perfect diameter. You were close but the difference between a 40 series and 45 series tire is very large in this case. You would be better off in swapping out the tires for the proper size. If you don't like the wheels you could just sell the set and buy new wheels that you like and put the proper 225/40R18 tires.

I've been around cars and used to sell tires and wheels many years ago so I just did it myself to help out others. The proper tire size for 18" wheels is a 225/40R18. Wheels come is different widths but a good fit for that tire would be a 18x8 +35mm offset. This will fill the wheel well nicely and look great. If the car is lowered you could lower it a little using some Eibach springs which will look even better and handle better while providing an excellent ride.

My OEM set up is 215/45R17, and it's not in your list

That's because it's too small of a diameter. I have no clue why Toyota uses the 215/45R17 size with a 24.6" diameter on the sedan when every other tire they use has a diameter of 25". On the Corolla iM hatchback they use the correct 225/45R17 size. Most people upgrade to a 225/45R17 when they shop for new tires. I also run the 225/45R17 on my 09 Corolla S.

Hopefully you didn't make the same mistake that he did and get the 225/45R18 size that is too large of a diameter. Go off of the list I left and you will always have the proper diameter in any wheel size.

What if your just running stock suspension and you run the 18x8.5 +35 with 225/40R18, will they rub?

No, they won't rub in any way but they will look better if you do a mild drop on Eibach springs.

I wasn't sure what size he was asking about since he used your quote. I responded because he referenced it. I wasn't picking on you! haha If you want to go wider a 255/35R18 has the proper 25" diameter.

I have 18X9.5 all the way around on lowering springs and still enough room for when I go on bags!

My S+ came with 215/45/17 because it has the Lexus suspension and body kit which is an inch lower then the swith that tire profile I have an inch and a half clearance from all the way around inside

It has nothing to do with the suspension being different. Toyota has been using the 215/45R17 size that is the wrong diameter since the 10th Gen. The speedometer is calibrated for tires that are 25" in diameter and is why most people install the 225/45R17 size when replacing tires. The S+ still rides too high on the stock suspension and almost looks silly with the low profile tires and all of that wheel gap.
