Very Indecisive.. Need Help

So I've been debating purchasing a universal TRD spoiler that another member on the forums has, but I do not feel comfortable drilling holes into my car (keep in mind i'm 17 years old). Should I get it installed professionally or leave my car with no spoiler?

It's all up to you man.
I have no spoiler now and just ordered the Z type from Mapisa. I'm nervous as hell to drill into my trunk!
I thought about taking it to a body shop, but honestly I think I could do a better job.
If you attempt this, lots of YouTube research! Follow supplied instructions to the letter!
I learned to work on cars by trial and error, you'll be fine.

Hey man I'm only 20 and I started working on my car when I was 18! I've done loads of stuff to this car and I learned all thanks to the internet and my own trial and error. I've definitely made my share of mistakes too but thankfully most have been reversible. Just remember, measure twice, no, measure 4 times, drill once. Remember that if you drill holes in the metal of your car, there's no going back unless you buy the entire part over again. My recommendation is that if you drill the holes, paint the holes with some sort of metal paint so that they don't ever rust. Be sure you wait for the paint to fully dry before installing the spoiler. Also, be sure the spoiler comes with good adhesive. If it doesn't, buy some good 3m tape. The stuff is incredible. What "universal TRD spoiler" are you talking about? sounds a little sketchy to me tbh.

I don't know if anyone else can see this or not, but there are very subtle dents/ripples on the edge.
I have no idea where they came from. Hoping the spoiler will cover them up.
I have the same thing going on around the sunroof too, though not as bad.

in relation to this, if you put some painters tape over where you need to drill, helps it easier as well when you want to mark a hole and helps prevent cracking in paint :)

This is the Universal TRD spoiler. Same style spoiler that was on the last gen Celica.

Ah okay! I think it would look great IF and ONLY IF the width of the spoiler lined up nicely with the sides of the car. Too narrow or too wide and it would look cheesy. Just my 2 cents :)

I agree. It seems the TRD spoiler lines up more nicely than the Mugen one everyone is using. The lack of body kit on the blue one makes it look weird BUT this was WAY before bodykits were even released.

Chris the z type spoiler is super easy to install! I'm only 20 and certainly not a professional but as long as you get the holes right it's a piece of cake
