Corolla Muffler Delete for those who are thinking about doing it.

#1

The video begins with a Cold Start, then casual driving with some acceleration clips. I hope you enjoy!

It is really loud and pops and crackles like a popcorn machine when you downshift. I highly recommend you get an aftermarket Muffler because you lose quite a bit of torque at the low end though you do gain a bit more Horse power in the high end of the rev range. I did this for you guys so you don't have to yourselves, have fun modifying your Rollas!

I actually did this after I bought my car, lol. It is REALLY loud, and funny but I don't like how the flange points upwards towards the underside of the car if you unbolt the muffler at the flange.

Also the whole burning valves due to an open exhaust is really, in my opinion, 100% myth. People back in the 70s people ran open headers, which can cause your engine to run more lean, with aftermarket lean jets in the carbs causing the engine to run even more lean leading to burnt valves. Now a car such as this has an open loop system and measures the exhaust gasses so it can tune, in short parameters, on the fly.

EDIT:

Do you have a manual? Cause I do!

Back in the 70's there was still lead in the fuel to help lubricate the valves.
Not the case any longer.

Disregard all you like... but your opinion is plain wrong.

These engines require some back pressure to retain torque.
Loud noise and increased rpm does not improve the miniscule torque the 1.8 L produces.

The Toyota engineers whom designed it... did what they did for a reason.

Thanks for the video! I didn't really hear much but I love seeing the streets of my favorite state!

Personally I would never rev a cold engine like that. You also drove it pretty hard before letting it warm up which is never a good thing. I had a Borla exhaust on my 09 S and it sounded amazing but still had the low end torque. It also was nice and quite under 3k RPM. With the muffler delete it just makes the CVT drone sound worse.
