Check engine light.

I have a 2014 I just bought. It had no owners manual in it. I am getting a check engine light and the ECO light has stopped coming on. The only thing that has changed is outside temperature. Any suggestions?

Could be a lot of things including a simple not properly close gas cap or some bad gas (or condensation)... Refilling and secure the gas cap is the first step. See if the CEL goes off after some miles.
Otherwise, you need to read or get a mechanic to read the code(s) the computer throws (with an OBD code reader). It would be normal for the ECO light not to show, since CEL tells that engine doesn't work at its best.

• The electronic engine control system;
• The electronic throttle control system;
• The electronic automatic transmission control system; or
• The electronic continuously variable transmission control system.

There is a setting to turn off the eco light, you probably accidently turned it off. It's in the steering wheel controls somewhere.

Would the gas cap issue require the codes to be removed by a scanner or will the computer reset and clear the cell itself.

You would need to clear them with a scanner Allen

Go to local autozone or another auto parts store. Ask them to read the codes, they do it for free. They'll give you a print out with the information. Google the issue, fix it, if you have a scanner reset it to clear the CEL if not unhook one of the battery terminals to clear.

Like others said, get the codes. There are literally tens of thousands of reasons why a check engine light can come on and without the code, there isn't much to say.

IF the code is caused by the fuel cap, it is not stored in the ECM memory as a priority code. These can be deleted by disconnecting the battery for up to 15 mins. Priority codes, however would not be deleted by this. However, as stated above, you want to know what the trouble code is simply have it read with an OBDII scanner.
