Repainting brand-new 2016 Corolla

A few days after picking up brand-new Corolla, ugly touch-up repair under clearcoat on the hood and over-sprayed tiny dots on the fender were found. I went to dealer but he just let me talk to the manger of their Toyota-certified collision center. He inspected and agreed it was factory defect, and also said they could repaint and clearcoat as good as factory does. Disappointed with Toyota Canada factory's quality control.

The dealer says warranty repair is only option he can provide me. Since I don't want to argue with him and spend time in vain, I just booked repainting under warranty. Still concerned about their color/surface quality, secondary damage or over-spray over other parts.

Is it OK for me to repaint brand-new car under warranty? Any other better options like leaving as-is and getting compensation? Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

Warranty covers it, let them do the work. They won't give you compensation. Either they do the warranty work or you live with it.

If you are concerned about overspray or other damage, take a ton of pictures before the appointment so you have it on record, but usually they won't damage the car and blame you for it.

When I had my radio done they beat up one panel on the instrument cluster badly for God knows what reason. I took it down the next day and they didn't argue with me. They ordered the part and called me in for the swap the second it came in.

That isn't touch up. Looks like the spray nozzles on the paint line needed to be cleaned when your car went through.

Would they repaint only affected areas or the whole car ? I don't think compensation is an option since their obligation to make you right is true warranty.

Taking a lot of pictures must be good idea just in case. I thought they found error on paint, applied touch up and clearcoat to speed up process. Your explanation must be feasible scenario. Thanks, Donabed!!

Supposed to repaint and clearcoat whole surface of hood and fender at dealer's collision center next week.

Those little dots are called rail dust, tiny particles of iron embedded in clearcoat, you can use clay bar and a chemical called Iron X to get it out, my entire car had it and got them all out using that. When they paint make sure all of the body seams line up and make sure they blend the paint to the bumper, doors, and up the a pillars. White is really easy to tell mismatched paint, your bumper will look yellow.
